Just launched: SHIP&SHAPE launches Valentine's Day collection
What: When Minneapolis-based online retailer SHIP&SHAPE launched last fall, we were ecstatic over the charmingly edited collection of clothing, jewelry, stationery and more by local luminaries such as Rachel Blomgren, Annika Kaplan, Molly Erickson, Erin Smith and Isa Gagarin. With their second collection, launching this weekend exclusively at www.shipandshape.com, the collective offers an ode to love with a Valentine's-themed collection called "Be Mine." The romantic collection ranges from the overtly love-themed, like the ceramic mug sets with the phrase "I love you" written out in various languages; or more subtly sweet, like ruffled cotton bloomers and a porcelain lace collar. Each item is available in ultra-limited runs of about five a piece, so get them while they're hot.

Beginning Monday: My Sister's Closet Annual Winter Sale
What: Next Monday, beloved vintage and designer consignment shop My Sister's Closet is kicking off their infamous semi-annual 50% sale. That's right - that means a whopping half-off all items in both their Grand Avenue and Uptown locations. We've scored gorgeous vintage dresses during this sale for $20 a pop, not to mention never-worn, 1980s Donna Karan ankle wrap heels for $15, so this sale (running for two weeks) is nothing to scoff at. Through Feb. 5: Sashay Shantay at Art Shanty Projects
What: Local fashion makes its first foray into the Art Shanties on Medicine Lake with the Sashay Shantay. Shanty-goers can don hardy knits and coats by local designers Danielle Everine (of Project Runway fame), Rachel Blomgren (pictured), Lela Horst Baumann, Carly Shoen and others in a stylized photo booth. Plus, the handmade creations will be showcased in an on-ice runway daily.

Friday & Saturday: gh2 50% off sale
What: High-end consignment shop gh2 is kicking off its semi-annual 50% off sale this weekend. Everything but a rack or two of new arrivals will be marked down, including labels such as Isabel Marant, Balenciaga, Rachel Comey, Raquel Allegra, Christian Louboutin, Marni, Jil Sander, Miu Miu, and Issey Miyake.

Friday: FOUND: The Art of Wedding
What: Weddings are becoming more of an art-directed production than ever, thanks to the sophisticated eye, taste and craft of local photographers, videographers, designers, stationers, florists, and bakers. Some of the most artistically-inclined independent wedding brands in the Twin Cities will be on display at "FOUND: The Art of Wedding," an event curated by photographer Eliesa Johnson of Photogen Inc. It will feature fine-art installations by Photogen Inc. and Rivets and Roses, fashion designer Tara LaTour, floral designers Munster Rose, filmmakers Capture Studios and stationer Paperista, plus complimentary copies of the latest issue of Minnesota Bride, tunes from Flow DJ, treats from Cocoa & Fig and sparkling cider from Crispin.

Friday: "Character in Costume: A Jack Edwards Retrospective"
What: Twin Cities costume designer Jack Edwards is about the closest we'll come to having our own Edith Head. His fabled history has included stints working as the right hand man alongside some of New York’s significant 1960s costume designers, an 18-year tenure as the Guthrie Theater’s Costume Director, and a dozen years as costume designer for the iconic 8th Floor Christmas Fantasy Lands at Dayton's. His sizable body of work - including dozens of costume sketches, photographs, press clippings, playbills, reviews, and 30 actual costumes designed by Edwards - will finally receive its own stage during the Goldstein's Jack Edwards retrospective, "Character in Costume," which kicks of with an opening reception this Friday.

Beginning Sunday: Bloomingdale's Closing Sale
What: The Mall of America announced today that longtime anchor store Bloomingdale's would be closing in March, to be replaced by four yet-to-be-named "major international fashion-forward retail stores." And with the closing comes a big, blowout sale. The sale will begin this Sunday, running through the March closing.

Ongoing: Two Birds Vintage Pops up at b. resale
What: Local vintage vendor Two Birds Vintage kicks off a month-long pop-up sale at b. resale this week.
