Attention artists: The Fair hasn’t even kicked off yet, but the organization is already putting out a submission call for the 2011 Commemorative Art piece (the art that will rep the Fair throughout all the land next year!). The final piece should be the artist’s visual interpretation of the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Attend this year’s State Fair for inspiration. Application deadline is Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 by 3:30pm.

The Pappas work is kind of neat... the rest of the work is representative of why the State Fair juried show continues to disappoint year after year. On a plus note, there's usually ten to twenty decent pieces to show my school kids and my own kids that not all of the artwork at the fair is trying to bring kitsch to an even more grotesque level.
Looks fantastic! I'll have to check it out. I can't wait until the fair starts.
i thought it was one of the worst...
The artist/art you mention here are deserving of a fine art show. BUT overall it was one of the worst shows I've seen at the fair in many years...
